Grenade found at Bellanvila Rajamaha Vihara

Boralesgamuwa Police said that a hand grenade manufactured in a foreign country was found on October 13 morning at the Bellanvila Rajamaha Vihara between the wall around the Bo tree and the parapet wall near Vihara Mawatha.

The Civil Defence Force Officers at the temple had found a parcel in a plastic bag on the ground near the Bo tree and the parapet wall. When they inspected the parcel, they had found the grenade inside the plastic bag and informed Boralesgamuwa Police.

Later, Officers from the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Kelaniya Camp of the Police Special Task Force inspected the hand grenade and identified it as a live grenade. Then the grenade was taken to a barren land on Meti Shudhdhaagara Road in Boralesgamuwa and defused, Police said.

Investigations are continuing.
