Lakshan Peiris a talented sportsman from Badureliya

Twenty One year old, T. Lakshan Peiris ,an old boy of Veediya Bandara Maha Vidyalaya, Bopitiya, Badureliya, is a talented sportsman in Athletics, Vollyball, Cricket and Karateka as well as a Wushu player.

He was an Athlete in School winning 100, 200 & 400 metre races at Matugama Education Circuit. He was involved in Athletics only in his school career and he learnt the game of Karate too under the coaching of Susantha Muthukuda at School level and became the Runner-Up in the Under Seventeen age group at the Karate Tournament held at the Inter House Sports meet in 2015 and he was also involved in Volleyball in School and Captained the School Volleyball team in the year 2016 to 2018 and he led his team which won the District & Provincial Volleyball Championship for three consecutive years.

In volleyball he played in the middle as an Attacker and his School Volleyball team consisted of talented players like Ravindu Sameera, Madhushan Sulochana and Asitha Lakmal. In school he played for the Cricket team too under the coaching of Dharshana Akalanka as a right hand batsman and his highest score was Forty four runs against Walagedara Maha Vidyalaya at Under Nineteen level.

After leaving School he got an opportunity to start the game of Wushu and it became his main interest and he started the game under the coaching of Ranil Atapattu and at the first Wushu contest he won a Gold Medal and he went on to improve his ability in the game of Wushu for as long as he was able to do so. Lakshan received a good training in this sport and later on he became an Assistant Coach in Wushu after his training at the Matugama Ananda Sasthralaya Training Centre and at the moment he is training some personnel who are interested in the game of Wushu.

At present he is employed as a Policeman attached to the Colombo Fort Police Station.
