Sixteen year old, Mahasen Bandara Samarakoon, a Grade Eleven Student of Dharmaraja College, Kandy is a talented Soccer player who started playing

soccer at the age of five years under the coaching of his late father,G S.Piyatissa, former Dharmaraja College Soccer Captain who represented

the Country as the shortest player at 5 ft.3 inches and he was also an Internationally qualified Soccer coach and he went to Sweden and played there as a Soccer player cum coach for a number of years.

Piyatissa used to bring a bag full of footballs from Sweden and distributed among the Soccer players of Clubs in Sri Lanka. Like father like son, Mahasen is following his footsteps and playing the game of Soccer while improving same and in the year 2019 he won the ‘Best Player’s’ Trophy on two occasions at the Under 16 Soccer tournament organized by the SISU Soccer Club as well as the Nawalanka Sports Club, Kandy.

He scored Eleven goals through-out the Soccer tournament and he uses both feet effectively to play in any position. His Soccer coaches are W.A.Priyantha and E.Wijewardena, both from the Kandy Municipal Playgrounds Department and he is practicing Soccer at the Lewella Municipal Grounds.

Mahasen is a bright student who is always among the first ten out of fifty five students in his class and his favourite subject is science. His intention is to improve the game of Soccer further to be a talented Soccer Player and Coach like his father and represent the National Soccer team in future while becoming a scientist. His favourite International Soccer player is Lionel Messi of Argentina. His is thankful to his soccer coaches for his great improvement in the game of soccer.
