Earthquake hits Indonesia, no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka

An Earthquake has occurred in Indonesia today but it has no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka, said the Seismic Data & Tsunami Alert Centre (SDTAC) of Geological Survey and Mines Bureau.
 
The earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 on the richter scale had occurred in Eastern Indonesia. at 0320 GMT.
 
The quake struck in the Flores Sea at a depth of 18.5 kilometres (11 miles), the US Geological Survey  said, detecting the epicentre around 100 kilometres north of the town of Maumere.
