Ravi, ten accused released from second Bond Scam case

Former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and 10 other accused were ordered to be released by the Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar from the charges related to the Public Property Act in the case filed against them in connection with Central Bank second bond auctions that took place in March 2016.

The order was delivered with the two-third majority of Colombo High Court Judges Damith Thotawatta (President) and Manjula Thilakeratne stating that the Perpetual Treasuries, the first accused in the case could not be prosecuted under the Public Property Act as it was not a human being.

Announcing his decision, High Court Judge Mohammed Irshadeen, ruled that the charges filed by the prosecution under the Public Property Act could be pursued.
