Veteran actress Sumana Amarasinghe passed away yesterday at the age of 73.
She passed away while receiving treatment at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.
Amarasinghe entered the film industry with the film Pipena Kumudu directed by Ruby de Mel. She became famous for her films Sunethra, Sukiri Kella and Obai Mamai.
Amarasinghe acted in many films and won the Most Popular Actress award on several occasions, in addition to producing six films.
Her husband is the late veteran Sri Lankan actor and film director Roy de Silva.
