Suspect stabs constable

A constable from the Payagala Police who went to arrest a suspect in Payagala on Wednesday (15) was stabbed by the suspect.

The constable was admitted to the Nagoda Hospital for treatment.

The victim had gone with another Police officer to Chetti Street, Uthuru Payagala, Payagala, to arrest a suspect against whom there was a warrant for two cases.

The suspect had used abusive language against the policemen and then stabbed one of them with a sword.

Payagala Police are conducting investigations.
