Sri Lankan netballers take on India today

Sri Lanka Netball team led by Gayanjali Amarawansa will play their first match of the Asian Netball championship today in Singapore when they take on India .

In preparation for this event Sri Lanka defeated Thailand 100-42 to get a morale booster before the tournament Sri Lanka the defending champions are looking to retain the title but Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong also have good teams to give a challenge.

Sri Lanka are same group ‘A ‘ with India and Philippines for the league matches while Singapore,Japan and Maldives are in Group ‘ B’ Malaysia,Brunei are named in Group C while Hong Kong, Thailand and Chinese Taipei are in Group D .. After the first game against India today Sri Lanka will meet Philippines on Monday (5).

According to the President of the Netball Federation Victoria Lakshmi Sri Lankan team is in good shape in Singapore while Team Doctor Shiromi Pilapitiya is busy with team physical fitness. My team has good confidence and we have a good plan to go forward match by match and out target is to retain the title added President Victoria Lakshmi.
