97th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF SWAMI SRI SATHYA SAI BABA

Sri Sathya Sai Baba
Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Lovingly called by millions of devotees as Swami, Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born in a remote village called Puttaparthi, situated in Andhra Pradesh district on November 23, 1926 and attained Maha Samadhi on April 24, 2011.

As a school going child He exhibited few of His powers by performing some miracles among His friends and family members. Later on when the right time approached Swami declared His Avatarhood and Mission of His incarnation to His family and the entire world at the age 14 years.

Swami was charming, adorable with Lotus like eyes, having innumerable powers like Lord Shiva, born as an Embodiment of Truth, Righteousness, Virtues, Supreme Knowledge, Peace and Bliss. He was untarnished by the three gunas (sathwic, rajasic, and tamasic) detached from worldly Samsara, an Embodiment of Self Control without any desires in life, beyond dualities, stainless, pure and witness of intellect of all beings.

Swami was an Antaryamin (inner dweller) Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent.

He moved freely among His devotees and was easily approachable. Swami took a lot of care with affection towards the children and established schools, and universities in that village and later in most parts of the world. He made the school administrators include human values such as Sathya (Truth), Dharma (righteousness), Shanthi (Peace), Prema (Love) and Ahimsa (Non-violence) in their school curriculum to be taught to all children. Children who completed their education with degrees in various fields in His Universities, presently doing very well all over the world with excellent personal characteristics and interpersonal relationships.

Swami established free Super Speciality Hospitals in Puttaparthi and Bangalore, with Specialist Doctors from all over the world offering their services on a voluntary basis. Because of His Divine nature many devotees came forward to serve in Sathya Sai Organisations in various fields on a voluntary basis in this whole Universe performing duties in the fields of education, health, food and clothing distribution to the needy, shelter to the most needy, and immediate relief actions during times of natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, tsunami etc.

Even though the physical presence of our beloved Baghavan is absent, the work of the Sai Organisations continues unabated.

Swami has cured diseases of devotees, removed their difficulties, protected them from so many calamities, and pains of dualities.

In this world, people just worship Him and expect miracles to happen. No! It’s not the deal. One has to perform all his or her work with purity of heart, thought word and deed with Truth and Righteousness, performing actions (karmas) without expecting any reward or benefit from such actions, love towards fellow beings (including all living and non-living beings). This is what Swami expected from devotees. Baba never even asked anyone to have His Form as a picture in the shrine room and worship or change their religion.

Swami is an incarnation of Lord Supreme (God) and is there as a part of the Soul in all living and Non-living Beings. He is Sat Chit Ananda Mayi. Existence, Consciousness and Bliss. Swami still and will continue to exist as Pure Being in all beings unrecognized by the veil of our Maya (illusion). His existence is changeless during various states of our body and mind.

So aspire that “All our actions and thoughts should be in tune with Thee Swami”.

Jai Sai Ram!!!

DR. C. SRIDEVA
