All government employees must retire at 60 - State Minister

Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya told Parliament yesterday (13) that a policy decision has been taken to keep the retirement age at 60 for all government employees. 

The State Minister replying Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa regarding the retirement age of government employees and the retirement of parliamentary employees said this policy will stand.

Minister Siyambalapitiya said that there are more than 25,000 who will retire by December 31. “The Opposition should understand the current state of the country. Today, this country is not in a position to change policies for one group. According to the state of the country, the Treasury has to protect those policies,’’ the state minister said.
