Two drunk youth end life at Matara beach

Two young men who were drunk and swimming in the Matara beach off National Shrine of Our Lady of Matara died due to drowning yesterday. These two young men had gone swimming despite the objections of vendors doing business in the beach as this area has been earmarked as dangerous for swimming.

A young woman from a tourist group and vendors who were on the beach and soldiers of Gemunu Watch rescued the two men and admitted them to the Matara General Hospital where they had been pronounced dead.
