Cargills opens high tech Central Warehouse in Katana

Cargills opened the high tech, state of the art mega Central Warehouse in Katana on Tuesday.

“This investment will help us to support more small & medium enterprises (SMEs) and fresh produce farmers to join in the Cargills supply chain, thereby contributing to the national economy,” Deputy Chairman of Cargills (Ceylon) PLC Ranjith Page, told the opening ceremony.

“When entrepreneurs think twice for large investments we at Cargills took another challenge to support Sri Lanka’s economy despite various hindrances at a time. This was done for the sake of helping the nation to bounce back,”

Page said that 900 suppliers and 320 SMEs have now been provided an opportunity to supply their products and the new stores complex will further facilitate uplift them. He also emphasized that small businesses contribute to local economies by bringing growth and innovation to the community and the Cargills’s philosophy has always been focused on community development and customer satisfaction. Ranjith Page also pointed out about his effort to support in reducing the cost of living by way of negotiating with suppliers and offering special discounts and other purchase incentives to millions of consumers who patronize over 500 Cargills outlets across the country.

“Our outlets are all currently progressing up to expectations,” he said. Page noted that the Cargills supermarket chain was launched in 1983 and has interacted with all levels of suppliers who have been supported to reach a higher level of business from where they were before. “We will further support with initiatives of this nature which in turn will also help to offer best prices to customers.”
