Supplier abducts businessman’s son for defaulting Rs. 1.2 mn

The Kandy Police have started investigations to find a textile supplier who kidnapped a businessman’s 17-year-old son for non-payment of the goods given to him. 

The suspect had threatened the businessman that he would not release the son until the Rs.1.2 million he owes is paid.

Police investigations have revealed that the student, who is studying in a leading school in Kandy, was returning home after attending a private class on the Peradeniya road in Kandy, when the suspect came in a van and abducted him.

According to the police, the textile supplier from Hanthana area had kidnapped the son of the businessman after the latter failed to pay Rs.1.2 million for textiles bought from the supplier.

After a complaint made to the police by the student’s mother, the police, had started an investigation and had given the suspect a phone call and informed him to bring the student to the police immediately.

Police say that the student, who was kept locked up in a house in Kadugannawa, was sent to Kandy by a passenger bus by the suspect. The student had told the police that his abductor had not harmed him in anyway. A police team is investigating to find the suspect who is said to be a resident of Polgahawela area.
