President attends Commonwealth Leaders Meeting

President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday attended the Commonwealth Leaders Meeting held at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, United Kingdom (UK).

President Wickremesinghe had made a request to Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland last month to organize a meeting between the Heads of State of all Commonwealth countries and King Charles III as all Commonwealth leaders were participating in the Coronation ceremony.

The President also met his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame in London, to discuss potential areas of cooperation on agriculture and healthcare between the two nations, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.

Accordingly, they proposed an exchange of visits by the relevant ministers and discussed military cooperation, while President Wickremesinghe also offered training for rapid response to natural disasters. President Wickremesinghe left for the UK on Thursday morning to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III, at the invitation of the British Royal Family.
