Seemamalakaya built at Sri Vijaya Saugatha Vidyalaeeya Pirivena in Walana

A Seemamalakaya built at the Sri Vijaya Saugatha Vidyalaya Pirivena in Walana, Panadura with financial assistance from retired DIG D.A.De Fonseka was vested in the Buddha Sasana at a ceremony held at the Pirivena premises recently. Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva was present on the occasion.

Retired DIG Fonseka who is rendering tremendous service to the area through a number of social services organisations, has spent over Rs. 7.5 million for the project. He is a distinguished old boy of Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa.

The opening of the Seemamalakaya is part of a series of religious programmes organised by various organisations to mark the 100th anniversary of Sri Vijaya Saugatha Vidyalaeeya Pirivena at Walana, Panadura. These programmes included an Alms Giving to 159 Buddhist monks, Pirith Chanting and Bodhi Poojas.
