Thineth Salinga

Seventeen year old left hand batsman left arm leg spinner and safe fielder under 13, 15, 17 and 19 player who has played in two big matches and two limited over games under 19 World Cup member and presently Colombo South Zone three District Player Thineth Salinga Peiris has brought honour and glory to his two schools Vidyaloka Maha Vidyalaya Maharagama and Piliyandala Central College with his deeds in the field of cricket. Thineth who hails from Arawwala Maharagama was born on 7th July 2006 and initially admitted to Maha Vidyalaya Arawwala in 2012 and when he came upto Grade four in 2015 he attended practices under M. Ruchira and in the following year he passed the Grade five Scholarship Exam with flying colours and was admitted to Piliyandala Central College in 2017.

Same year his parents Sanath Peiris and Renuka Abeyrathne realizing that their sons forte is cricket handed over their son to the school under 13 coaches Amil Senadheera and Harshana Pramod and in the same year itself he was selected to the under 13 division one team and in his first year itself he captured 42 wickets with three 5 wicket hauls and in the following year he claimed 54 wickets with 4 five wickets hauls and in 2019 he was an automatic choice for the under 15 Division One and bagged 46 wickets with 4 five wicket hauls and in 2020 he could not play cricket due to Coronavirus.

Then in 2021 playing in the under 17 division one he came under former Cambrian Eranga Gunaratne and in five matches he took 17 scalps and in 2022 he was promoted to the under 19 team and in the Big Match he claimed 11 wickets and was awarded the Man of the Match Prize and in the same year he could play only five one dayers and captured 17 wickets. This season playing in the 1st eleven two day matches he claimed 65 wickets including 8 wickets in the Big Match and played in two limited over matches. In this years limited over game he carried away the Best Bowlers Award. In the mean time due to his performances he was selected to the next World Cup Bowling Squad.
