Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles emphasizes that the Sri Lanka Police will implement the usual security arrangements for President Ranil Wickremesinghe when he returns to the country after his official visits to France and England.
The Minister of Public Security, has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct an investigation into the false propaganda circulating on social media platforms regarding the security of the President and immediately arrest the persons related to it.
The Minister points out that there are arrangements and operating procedures regarding how the protection should be done when the President or the Prime Minister returns to Sri Lanka after a foreign visit as well as when leaving Sri Lanka and according to those arrangements the specific operating procedure has been followed here. Generally, these arrangements and procedures are notified to the relevant departments when the President or the Prime Minister arrives on the island as well as when they leave the island.
The Minister also pointed that such a message has been leaked to the media without permission from the Police Department and caused a stir on several websites as well as on social media.
The Minister of Public Security has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct an immediate investigation in this regard and to arrest those who leaked an internal Police message to outsiders and to the media without permission and those who propagated the false information.
