NMRA fraught with corruption - Sajith

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the Minister in charge and the Secretary should take immediate action regarding the fraud and

corruption of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).

In a discussion held with the Government Pharmacists’ Association yesterday (27) that he would expose many cases of fraud and corruption in the NMRA.

He said that there is a formal process of registration of drugs according to the rules and regulations related to drugs in our country. Also, there is a system that should be implemented in an emergency situation. However, that system has been misused to buy drugs in a corrupt way, the Opposition Leader said. He also said that issues related to many medicines were reported as a result of it.
