Former President Maithripala Sirisena met and held discussions with the leader of the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Kachchi Party (ITAK)
Mavai Senadhiraja and several politicians of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA)during his visit to Jaffna.
Sources said that discussions focused on how to obtain support of Tamil political parties including the TNA to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) in upcoming elections. Tamil political parties of the north have not given a direct statement that they will support the SLFP led by the former President Maithripala Sirisena. Former MP Mavai Senadhiraja has declared that Tamil Parties will support any Party that solves the problems of Tamils in the North and East and provides a political solution to these provinces.
These political meetings had been organized by SLFP Jaffna District leader and former Deputy Minister Angajan Ramanathan.
