Liquor brewer arrested

A suspect who had prepared 50 bottles of illegal liquor to be sold during Christmas has been arrested recently. Police seized the liquor during a raid. The stock was was hidden in a tank near the suspect’s house.

The suspect is a father of two and a resident of Konwewa in Hettipola, Kurunegala. The arrest was made following a tip-off.

Hettipola Police OIC IP Ananda Rajapakse told the Daily News that about 4,302 suspects engaged in selling and manufacturing of illegal liquor and drugs were arrested this year in Kurunegala and Puttalam.
