M. Piyasiri, 54, a father of six and a resident of Pola Pahala Dharmigama Suriyawewa, was killed by a wild elephant on Monday.
He was trying to chase the pachyderm that came to his chena at Maha Ara, Suriyawewa, according to Suriyawewa Police.
The inquiry into the death was conducted by Suriyawewa Inquirer into Sudden Deaths S. Wijedasa. The body was sent to Hambantota Base Hospital for the postmortem.
