The UNP May Day Rally will be held at the Colombo Town Hall grounds, UNP General Secretary Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said.
“Preparations for this years rally will be held with the objective of ensuring a party victory at future elections, “ Kariyawasam told a special press conference held recently.
He said the party re-organisation work had already commenced. The ‘Siri Kotha Gamata’ Programme to take the party re-organisation work to the village successfully commenced from the Kalutara district recently.
The next Sirikotha Gamata programme will be held in the Anuradhapura district,” he added.
Minister Kariyawasam said the giant coalition to be formed between the UNP and the UNF is expected to be announced prior to the May Day Rally.
He said the UNP will join hands with the leadership, membership, politicians and people’s representatives of other parties wishing to join a coalition to carry forward the programme of work needed to win any future election.
