M.K.Shivajilingam, member of the Thamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) who has come in for criticism for launching his own Presidential bid, vowed to contest the forthcoming election while refusing to withdraw his candidacy.
Speaking to the Daily News, Shivajilingam said that his campaign for the Presidency was launched yesterday evening from Nallur in Jaffna and that he would continue to campaign for the Presidential polls.
“I have not received any communication from the party for my withdrawal. I will make my intentions known in the forthcoming campaign and through the press,” he said.
One time Parliamentarian Shivajilingam launched a last minute bid for the Presidency when he decided to enter the fray independently.
His move has come under criticism by the organization which comes under the umbrella of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).
