Schools Rugby tournament will only be resumed in April

The Dialog Schools ‘A’ Division League Rugby Tournament which was postponed due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus will only be resumed in the first week of April, 2020 depending on the situation according to an official of the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association.

The Schools Rugby Association decided at a meeting held on March 13 (Friday) afternoon to put off the tournament on a directive by the Ministry of Education taking the safety of the Ruggerites into consideration. However they gave the greenlight for the Trinity-Anthonian game to be played on the same day with only the players and match officials in attendance as they had already made arrangements to play the match at Nittawela in which Trinity triumphed by 26-5.

They also gave permission for the Peterites to go ahead in their game against Vidyartha on March 14 (Saturday) as they were already on their way to Kandy on March 13 (Friday) evening when the decision was conveyed to them to postpone the match and the Peterites emerged victorious by 34-3 on Saturday at Nittawela. The matchers between Isipathana College and Wesley College at Longden place on March 14 and Dharmaraja and Science College on the same day at Bogambara were postponed indefinitely along with the game between Royal College Colombo and Kingswood College Kandy which was scheduled to be played on March 15 (Sunday) at the Royal Sports Complex.
