Russian Centre Annual Art Exhibition – ‘Victory & Peace’

The Annual Art Exhibition of the Russian School of Art of the Russian Centre in Colombo, ‘Victory & Peace’, will be held from September 21 to 30.

The inauguration of ‘Victory & Peace’, an exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in World War II, will be held in the presence of Chief Guest Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry Secretary Prof. Kapila Gunawardena, Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Yuri Materiy, Russian Embassy Military Attaché Colonel Mr. Denis I. Shkoda, and Russian Embassy First Secretary and Russian Centre Director Anastasia Khokhlova.

This year, the world celebrates the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Allied Forces in the Second World War, which is for Russian people, referred to as the ‘Great Patriotic War’.

The students of the Russian School of Art have been guided by Arjuna Jayasinghe and assistant teachers Mahesha Fernando and Natalie Hettiarachchi, giving life to thoughts of peace and harmony among students.

With over 140 paintings, the exhibition will portray the expressions of the youngsters of the Russian School of Art, which have been mostly prepared using environmentally-friendly material, encouraging sustainability to the students from a tender age.

Participants of the exhibition will be recognized at the inauguration ceremony for their participation in the exhibition. The Russian Centre invites all art enthusiasts to pay a visit to ‘Victory & Peace’, which will be open to the public.
