Udeshika Madumali is a fine all-round sportswoman having represented Mahamaya Girls’ School, Kandy in athletics, netball, cricket and karate from 2005 to 2019.
Twenty-one-year old Udeshika started her career as a karateka in 2009 under the supervision of Coach Aruna de Zoysa. Thereafter, she became a brown belt holder in karate and continued in the sport till she received the black belt. As an athlete, she won the shot put and the discus throw events for a number of years at Inter-Schools level meets.
In cricket, she led the Mahamaya Team to victory in several matches and at the annual fixture against Palink School of Cricket.
Udeshika was also a talented netball player from 2008 to 2016 and was under the guidance of veteran Coaches M. Tissera and N. Pradeepa.
