Kolkata-Punjab clash should be a close contest

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a crucial match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 Cricket Tournament in Dubai today.

Both the teams are in the middle of the points table where a single loss or win can alter their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. KKR defeated PBKS the last time these two teams met this season.

Kolkata has their find of the season, Venkatesh Iyer, batting superbly while opening the innings for KKR. He scored 41 not out against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and 53 against the Mumbai Indians (MI), proving his worth on the grandest stage.

A good sign for Punjab Kings is that Aiden Markram seems to be back in form, as he scored 42 off 29 balls in the last match against MI. Also, they would be hoping that Mayank Agarwal recovers from his injury and joins them for this match.

Going by the current league standing, this can be a closely fought contest between the two teams. (Agencies)
