Sri Lanka 'A' were struggling at 61 for six wickets when bad weather brought an early end to the day’s proceedings at lunch on the opening day of the first 4-Day cricket encounter against Pakistan 'A' at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy yesterday.

Sri Lankan 'A’ openers Kamil Mishara and Lahiru Udara added 36 runs after they were put into bat by the visitors under gloomy conditions.

Udara was out for 23 after striking three boundaries while Mishara was out just before lunch scoring 20 in 59 balls inclusive of one boundary.

But the rest of the Sri Lankan batters failed to make an impact as they perished against the Pakistan fast bowlers.

18-year-old paceman Naseem Shah was the pick of the bowlers as he bowled eight overs to finish with three for 27 while Khurram Shahzad took two for eight.

Chief scores

Sri Lanka ‘A’: 61/6 in 22 overs (Kamil Mishara 20, Lahiru Udara 23, Naseem Shah 3/27, Khurram Shahzad 2/8) vs Pakistan 'A'.
