Over 900 Officers and 13,400 Other Rankers promoted for Victory Day

Coinciding with the 13th Victory Day anniversary, 920 Officers and 13,481 Other Rankers of the Tri-Forces were promoted to their next ranks with approval of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander, General Shavendra Silva with the approval of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Defence Ministry has promoted a total of 396 Officers and 8,110 Other Ranks who are eligible for their next rank with effect from yesterday.

74 Navy officers and 2010 sailors in the Sri Lanka Navy have been promoted to their next higher ranks by Navy Commander, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, with the approval of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the President.The courage and dignity of Tri-Service and Police War Heroes, who selflessly contributed to the success story, played a prominent role in bringing lasting peace and establishing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland. Nine senior officers and 65 junior officers have been promoted to their next senior rank. In addition, 2010 junior and senior sailors of different rates in both Regular and Volunteer forces have also been advanced to their subsequent rates with the approval of Commander of the Navy.
