Protest against alleged hoarding of fuel

The Medawachchi main road was closed for two hours on Wednesday evening due to a protest by customers against the Ceypetco filling station in the town allegedly concealing stocks of fuel.

The mob alleged that the fuel station authorities concealed the fuel from ordinary customers and provided them to businessmen, metal quarry owners and their close associates.

They also added that the authorities of the fuel station were concealing stocks with the hope that the price of fuel would increase.

Medawachchiya Police arrested one person for his unruly behaviour.

Police and Army officers were deployed for the protection of the fuel station. Medawachchiya OIC R.M.I.B. Ratnayake controlled the situation and opened the roads for traffic.
