The Police Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday arrested seven suspects in connection with the brutal attack on a person with sharp weapons near the Lakhiru Sevana Housing Complex in Dematagoda on September 8. The suspects had cut off the victim’s arms with swords and machetes. Based on the intelligence information received, the STF had arrested the suspects in the Kalipulla Watte area in Dematagoda. STF officers had also seized three swords, three machetes and a motorbike along with the suspects."The suspects who are in the 18 to 31 age group are residents of Wellampitiya, Dematagoda and Welimada," Police said. Investigations have revealed that one of the arrested is wanted in connection with another murder case in Kotahena and a spate of robberies in Dematagoda. The suspects have been handed over to the Dematagoda Police for further investigations.
