PM instructs special attention for hospitalised pensioners

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that he will instruct relevant officials to make a special intervention in the payment of pensions for pensioners who are hospitalized and suffering from serious illnesses.

The Prime Minister noted that a committee consisting of three state ministers was also appointed to investigate the rights and entitlements of pensioners and to report the issues that are currently not being addressed.

The Prime Minister noted that he recently paid a visit to pensioners’ holiday resort in Kelaniya and the place does not receive the attention it needs to get. The Prime Minister made these observations in reply to a question raised by MP Madura Vithanage in parliament yesterday (20).
