Following a complaint lodged with the Hambantota Consumer Authority, officials raided a fertilizer stores complex belonging to a private sector trader at Julepallama in Ambalantota.
The officials took into custody stocks of Ammonia sulphate, MOP fertilizer, Ketapohora and urea.
The trader had in his possession cash memos only for urea and ammonia sulphate and did not possess cash memos for the other stocks of fertilizer. As the trader was unable to produce other cash memos, the entire stock of fertilizer was taken into account by the relevant officials.
The officials also ordered the trader to distribute the stock of fertilizer and produce the the cash memos that were not produced to them.
They said the trader would be later dealt with under the existing rules and regulations.
