Local doctor says ‘Karapitiya tablet’ can save lives, attract forex

Dr. Udara Sampath Gunawardena who has invented a medicine for Covid-19, said that his medicine can easily be utilized to attract foreign exchange if he receives support from the Health authorities.

Dr. Gunawardena who practises as a Medical Officer at the Karapitiya Hospital was speaking to the media along with a few other representatives of a people’s collective called ‘Avoid Covid-19 deaths’, in Colombo, on Wednesday.

The medicine which comes in capsule form has been introduced by a team lead by Dr. Gunawardena and it is being used for treating Covid-19 patients.

Dr. Gunawardena said that the capsule which can be utilised for bringing in foreign exchange is well known locally. However, despite several requests he made to the Health Ministry, Health authorities have been turning a deaf ear to his requests. Such a lethargic attitude of the Health Ministry and Health authorities is discouraging and de-motivating, he said.

The capsule is a herbal product and doesn’t contain harmful substances such as heavy metals, he added.

“The capsule which is widely known as ‘Karapitiya tablet’ has been given to more than 45,000 Covid-19 patients countrywide and has proved successful in healing patients in critical condition in ICUs. With the success of the capsule all the required quality certifications and accreditations are being obtained,” Dr. Gunawardena said.

“It is regrettable that Health authorities and political authorities are reluctant to give their support to the medicine.”

“It can be observed that people at the top look down upon local innovations.” According to him, those political and Health authorities greatly rely on foreign treatments including vaccines.

However the common masses place their trust on the local medicine and local Covid-19 treatments.

He added that if he is given necessary assistance from the Government and Health authorities for mass production, the medicine will draw billions in foreign exchange while saving thousands in local funds drained out for importing vaccines.

Reports of international research conducted on Covid-19 vaccines, reveals that the immunity level of persons who are fully vaccinated comes down rapidly, he said.

Regardless of whether the vaccine is a European or Asian product, the immunity level drastically comes down after two or three months of taking the vaccine, he said.

He said that he is not against the vaccination programme, but he questioned the use of such vaccinations.
