Sri Lankan Consulate General in Mumbai hosts Shishuvan students and faculty members

On June 26, 108 students (Standard IV) and 14 faculty members of Shishuvan School, Mumbai visited the Sri Lankan Consulate General Mission in Mumbai as part of the policy of taking people-to-people diplomacy to the school level.

At the request of the school, the Consul General held an interactive session through a presentation on Sri Lanka’s history and culture.

The presentation covered wide areas such as wildlife, food, festivals, the population profile and the cultural transformation of Sri Lanka from the Ramayana period to the present. The students and teachers who attended the session in two batches of 54 students and seven faculty members each, were receptive and engaging throughout the presentation.

As a gesture of Sri Lankan hospitality, the guests were served snacks and tourism brochures and maps were distributed.

A few Sri Lankan handicrafts were also given to a few children acknowledging their active participation.

Further, the Consul General presented the Head of the Primary school with a traditional Sri Lankan handicraft mask.

The Consul General also suggested facilitating a visit to Sri Lanka for the students.
